Restorative Justice / Detention Ministry

“For I was in prison and you visited ME…”   Matthew 25:36

  • Our mission is to communicate the Good News of God’s unconditional love to those incarcerated.
  • We affirm each person, not necessarily their behavior, and invite them to grow as sons and daughters of God.
  • We recognize that we ourselves will be called to deeper conversion through our interaction with those in detention.
  • We see our mission not as an act of charity but as a living of the central mission of the Gospel.

In the local jails, ministers from St. Angela’s share the Good News of God’s unconditional love with incarcerated adults and juveniles. We lead Communion Services, Bible study and faith enrichment groups, as well as one on one pastoral visitations. Our outreach is coordinated through the Catholic Detention Ministry of the Diocese of Orange.
