At St. Angela Merici (SAM) Parish School, we believe that faith begins at home. While our classrooms are filled with learning and prayer, we recognize that parents and families are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life.
This holiday season, we launched a special “Faith at Home” initiative: The Joyful Christmas Challenge.
A “Happy Birthday” to Remember
To celebrate the true reason for the season, SAM families were invited to host a birthday party for Jesus! The challenge was simple but profound:
- Bake together: Using a favorite family recipe or a simple mix.
- Decorate with joy: To make things extra festive, the school provided candles and sprinkles for every family.
- Sing out loud: Families gathered around their kitchen tables to sing “Happy Birthday” to our Lord and Savior.
Faith in Action
The response was heartwarming. From chocolate cakes topped with Nativity scenes to colorful sprinkles shared between siblings, the photos we received (see above!) capture the pure joy of this tradition. It wasn’t just about the dessert; it was about creating a space for believers of all ages to connect, celebrate, and reflect on the gift of Christ’s birth.
“The Mission of St. Angela Merici Parish Catholic School is to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate through worship, build community, serve others and achieve academic excellence…”
Events like the Christmas Challenge are a vital part of how we build community and celebrate through worship, even when we are outside the school gates.
