Have you ever thought about becoming Catholic? Or perhaps you were baptized but never received your First Communion or Confirmation? We invite you to explore the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)!
What is OCIA? The OCIA is the beautiful process through which unbaptized adults and older children become members of the Catholic Church. It is also the path for those who are already baptized—whether Catholic or in another Christian faith—to prepare for and receive the sacraments of Eucharist (Communion) and Confirmation.
If you are feeling called to learn more about the Catholic faith, or if you are ready to complete your sacraments, we are here to help you on your journey.
Ready to take the next step? Please contact:

Calling All Parishioners: We Need Your Help!
The OCIA journey involves many moving parts—discussion topics, dismissals, rituals, and “Breaking Open the Word.” Most importantly, it involves our parish community supporting and guiding those seeking to become fully active members of the Church.
We are currently looking for volunteers to serve as Dismissal Leaders.
- What does a Dismissal Leader do? If you love discussing the Sunday Readings, this is for you! Dismissal leaders are needed to help with “Breaking Open the Word” after the homily at the 9:30 AM Mass.
- Requirements: Volunteers must be fully initiated (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) and practicing Catholic adults.
If you would like more information about serving your parish community as a dismissal leader, please contact Andrea Draper at andrea.draper@stangelabreachurch.org or 714-529-1821 ext. 4739.
We look forward to walking this journey of faith together!
