We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our newest spiritual leader, Father Tuan Nguyen, to the St. Angela Merici community!

Father Tuan recently shared a beautiful and deeply moving introductory letter with our parish. For those who haven’t had the chance to read it yet, we wanted to share his inspiring journey and his heartfelt message to all of you as he begins this new chapter with us.

A Journey of Faith and Resilience

Father Tuan’s path to St. Angela Merici is a profound testament to God’s grace. Born in Vietnam, his early childhood was marked by his family’s courageous flight from their homeland in search of safety and hope. He spent months in a refugee camp in Malaysia—a time he describes as being filled with uncertainty, fear, and deep prayer.

In 1978, through divine providence, his family was welcomed into the United States, a moment that forever changed the trajectory of his life.

The youngest of five siblings, Father Tuan carries the memory of his parents and older brother, who have since passed into the presence of the Lord. He credits their immense sacrifices, bravery, and unwavering faith as the very foundation upon which his vocation to the priesthood was built.

31 Years of Dedicated Service

Following his graduation from high school, he answered God’s call to serve His people and entered St. John’s Seminary. He was ordained as a priest in 1995. Over his remarkable 31 years in the priesthood, Father Tuan has had the joy of walking alongside numerous parish communities, sharing in their joys, sorrows, struggles, and hopes. Every single parish has left an indelible mark on his heart.

And now, God has brought him here, to us.

In his letter, Father Tuan expressed deep gratitude for the incredible warmth and kindness our community has already shown him. His vision for his time here is simple but beautiful: to pray with us, to learn from us, and to grow together in faith.
