My name is Father Tuan Nguyen, and as I begin a new chapter here at St Angela Merici, I do so with a heart full of gratitude. Becoming part of the St. Angela Merici community is a blessing I receive with humility and joy.
My journey to this moment has been shaped by God’s grace in ways I could never have imagined. I was born in Vietnam, and when I was still young, my family fled our homeland in search of safety and hope. We spent months in a refugee camp in Malaysia—months filled with uncertainty, fear, and prayer. In 1978, by God’s providence, we were welcomed into the United States. That welcome changed the course of my life.
I am the youngest of five children. Over the years, my family has endured loss—my parents and my oldest sibling have gone home to the Lord. Their sacrifices, their courage, and their faith are the foundation on which my vocation was built. Every time I stand at the altar, I carry them with me.
After high school, I entered St. John’s Seminary, trusting that God was calling me to serve His people. I was ordained in 1995, and for 31 years I have been blessed to walk with many parish communities—sharing in their joys, their sorrows, their struggles, and their hopes. Each parish has left a mark on my heart.
And now, God has brought me here—to you.
I want to thank you for the warmth and kindness you have already shown me. I look forward to praying with you, learning from you, and growing in faith together. Please keep me in your prayers as I begin this new chapter, and know that I am already praying for you.
May God bless you and your families abundantly.
May Our Lady of Guadalupe and St Angela Merici intercede for us.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Tuan Nguyen
